Other Areas of MinistryChristian ConciliationI Cor. 6:2-7 states that Christians should not take one another to court. If personal conflict resolution is not effective, then mediation is the next step. Christian conciliation (mediation) is an alternative to resolving disputes through the courts and/or secular mediation services. It provides a process for reconciling people and resolving the material or substantive disputes in a biblically faithful manner. The process encourages honest communication and reasonable cooperation. The Institute for Christian Conciliation, a division of the Peacemaker Ministries Inc., has trained and certified Dr. de Deugd to provide this service. Christian conciliation services are provided according to our sliding scale, or by the amount agreed upon by all parties during the first session. Christian Life CoachingThe goal of Christian Life Coaching is to help people integrate their faith with career/life planning and find direction for their lives. Our calling is to assist you in finding meaning, purpose and joy in your life, making a difference in this world through your work and life, and bringing honor and glory to God. We help clients gain the confidence to get unstuck from whatever is holding them back and change their lives. Life coaching is action/solution oriented. Lay Counselor TrainingWe have two classes that are uniquely designed for training lay counselors. They will give you a strong, biblical foundation to help you help God’s people, God’s way. From time to time we will offer these classes at our office or we will come to your church. Each class lasts 12 weeks, meeting once a week in the evening from 7:00 – 9:00 PM. The second class can only be taken after successful completion of the first one. Class One: Basic Skills for Lay Counselors In this class you will learn the basic tools for lay counseling. It will give you a strong biblical foundation for helping people with their problems. Topics to be covered will include: biblical counseling principles, interviewing skills, data gathering, evangelism tools and basic motivational and problem solving techniques. The class is interactive in format. A high school diploma is helpful, but not mandatory. Class Two: Marriage and Family Guidance. Building on the skills acquired in the first class, we specifically zero in on marriage and family relationships. Learn how to guide others into doing marriage God’s way. Family dynamics, blended family concerns, child and teen issues, and effective discipline will also be addressed. Cost per class will be $ 200. This includes the books. There is a 10% discount for church groups of more than 10 people. Public SpeakingSeveral of our counselors are qualified, willing and able to come to your church or organization and fill your Public Speaking needs. Dr. Marianne de Deugd is a trained, certified and experienced public speaker. During her career of over 25 years, she has addressed many different topics within the Christian counseling field. Her specialties are marriage and family related issues, biblical conflict resolution and how to live a healthier life, spiritually, psychologically and physically. She can and will tailor her speech to your specific needs. Her theological education and extensive knowledge of the Scriptures qualify her to address her topics from a thoroughly biblical perspective. Jason Philips is an ordained minister and practicing professional counselor. He is available to fill in as pulpit supply, or offer educational talks on any issues related to ministry and mental health. Seminars and Workshops
We offer seminars and workshops that are packed with biblically based teaching and training. We will come to your church, business or organization for a short two hour workshop or for an all day Saturday seminar. Two-hours workshops are available on: Parenting, Communication skills, Marriage, Remarriage and Blended Families, Effective discipline, and Career planning. All day Saturday seminars are available on: Marriage Enrichment (for couples), Resolving Conflict Biblically, Anger Management, and Practical Help for Blended Families.
